Physical Disability Support at Home in London
Expert home care and specialist support for adults and young people with physical disabilities — designed to promote independence, safety, and a full quality of life at home across London.
Adults and young people we support
Our physical disability support service is for adults and young people who have a physical disability — whether from birth, as the result of an acquired injury, or due to a progressive neurological condition — and who want to live at home with the right support around them.
We support individuals with conditions including:
- Spinal cord injury — paraplegia and tetraplegia
- Acquired brain injury affecting physical functioning
- Multiple sclerosis (MS) — including relapsing-remitting and progressive forms
- Motor neurone disease (MND)
- Cerebral palsy in adults and young people
- Parkinson's disease and related conditions
- Muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions
- Limb loss or limb difference requiring adapted personal care
- Stroke affecting mobility, communication, or daily functioning
- Other conditions affecting physical mobility and independence
We also support people who have physical disabilities alongside mental health conditions, learning disabilities, or complex clinical needs — providing genuinely holistic care that does not treat these as separate considerations.
“Independence is not about doing everything alone. It is about having the right support to live life on your own terms.”

Our Approach
Our approach — independence first
We believe that the purpose of disability support is not to do things for people — it is to enable people to do as much as they are able, in the way they choose, with the safety and help they need around them.
We start with the person, not the condition
Before any care begins, we invest time in understanding who the individual is — their ambitions, their daily priorities, what they find most challenging, and what they most want to maintain. The care plan follows from that conversation.
We promote capability, not dependency
Our approach is always to support the maximum level of independence the individual can sustain. We do not do for people what they can do for themselves — however long it takes. Where rehabilitation goals exist, we actively support them.
We work with the whole MDT
Physical disability care rarely sits in isolation. We work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, community nurses, and case managers — taking direction from the clinical team and coordinating our support within the wider care framework.
We adapt as the person's needs change
Physical conditions — particularly progressive conditions — change over time. Our packages are designed to flex with those changes, whether needs increase or, in rehabilitation cases, decrease as capability is regained.
We respect autonomy above all
Adults with physical disabilities have the right to make their own decisions about their care. We respect those decisions, provide honest information, and adapt our approach accordingly — even when we might see things differently.
How physical disability support begins with Kope Medics
From first enquiry to specialist support in place — a thorough, person-centred process.
Initial conversation
Call us or complete our short form. We accept referrals from clinical teams, case managers, and local authorities — as well as direct enquiries from individuals and families.
Comprehensive assessment
A senior assessor carries out a thorough review of physical needs, home environment, equipment requirements, and personal goals — alongside any existing clinical input and therapy plans.
Care plan and carer preparation
We build a detailed, person-centred care plan. We identify and train the right carers for the individual's specific physical and personal care needs before any visit takes place.
Support begins and is reviewed
Care starts at an agreed schedule. We review regularly with the individual, their family, and the clinical team — updating the plan as needs and goals evolve.
Why choose Kope Medics for physical disability support?
- CQC registered and fully regulated — our physical disability support services are delivered under our full CQC registration, with formal regulatory oversight.
- Specialist moving and handling — all carers receive specific moving and handling training relevant to each individual's package. Hoist and equipment competency is assessed before care begins.
- Independence-first philosophy — we never do more than the individual needs or wants. Our goal is always to maximise the person's own capability and control.
- Direct payments and personal budgets supported — we have extensive experience working with individuals who manage their own care funding and can adapt our arrangements accordingly.
- MDT coordination as standard — we actively engage with physiotherapists, OTs, community nurses, and case managers, and attend clinical reviews as required.
- Communication support included — our carers receive training specific to the individual's communication needs, including AAC devices and non-verbal communication.
- Conditions from acute to progressive — we support people across the full spectrum of physical disability, from those in active rehabilitation to those living with progressive conditions long-term.
- Consistent, committed care teams — we match individuals with a stable group of carers who understand their routines, their preferences, and their goals.
